  2. Character Design Feedback

It has been great to see your character come together over the course of the project, particularly with the stainless style you were striving for. I think the nervous knight is appealing and well executed, and his expressions and gestures reinforce his personality very well. There are some structural issues (his neck looks a little too thin to support his head and helmet) and his silhouette from the front has been swamped by the cloak, so perhaps that could have been shorter so that you could see his legs clearly. The beast in comparison needs more fleshing out. I think the pose is a little neutral and needs more menacing to help drive the narrative. Perhaps he should be a little more hulking and imposing, to counter the knight’s nervous body language.

I think your environment works very well and manages to be atmospheric and clear, despite the constraints of the style. I think your storyboard is also clear and easy to understand, although perhaps could be a little more dramatic. The final confrontation feels a little anticlimactic so you may want to improve the pacing. Perhaps the hero pulls back the spear, we see the snarling beasts eyes narrow, the creature leaps forward, and then we see the spear arc through the air finding its mark etc. Imagine a dramatic confrontation in a movie or tv drama with a seemingly outmatched foe.

Overall then I think you have produced a cohesive style with an engaging hero and an interesting narrative. However I feel the narrative is compromised by a somewhat lacklustre villain and confrontation so I would highly recommend revising the weaker elements to bring everything up to the same standard. - JW
