Toolkit 2: Acting Class - Lesson 3

21/03/2018

In the previous lesson we had learned 2 of the 3 S's: Sculpting and Status, leaving this session to learn staging. The first task was the whole class was at a art gallery, we were given roles to adopt such as artist, rival, critic, competition winner, artist's mum, artist's wife, exhibition owner, security etc and we had a number taped to us in a place we couldn't see that represented our status, we had to guess our status by the way others treated us. The second task was the class had moved from art gallery to a Wild West Saloon bar, we had the bar tender, drunk, gamblers, cattle rustlers, piano player, prostitutes, sheriff etc this time we weren't given numbers, someone played a notorious criminal and as soon as they entered the room everyone would freeze and go silent at their high status, walking up to the bar they'd say "Whiskey" then leave at their own pace. The last task was in groups of threes taking turns we took to the stage and was given a location and had to improvise a story but constantly one had to be standing up, another sitting, another laying down and switching as a group we had to keep the story going and bring it to an end somehow.

For the last session, we have been put into groups, me being with Alex P and Karolina and together we have to come up with a 5 minute act including a given line which will be recorded for assessment.
