Maya Tutorials: Part 3 - Ray Depth
In arnold settings, subsection ray depth, if any of the values below total are changed then the total value needs to increase.
Diffuse is light bouncing around the space.
Specular is reflected light.
Transmission is transparency.
Volume is atmosphere or fluid effects, (like fog or smoke).
Transparency is light passing through an object.
