Character Design: Week 2 - Conceit

In Justin's class we was looking into our given conceit, (mine being stained glass) and determining design rules for them. I have to think when I design how I'm going to animate it also, am I going with a literal stained glass illustration as if it is on actual glass or the art direction like in Sleeping Beauty? How am I going to use colour language?

So the task was to take a character and experiment, translating them into our conceit. Mickey Mouse's head and him as a knight were my drawings, harsh lines have to be emphasised as one of the main rules of stained glass, literal or as art direction. The right drawing is Justin explaining to me how I have to take into consideration how stained glass is made - it's fragments put together with thick lines.

I'm going to do more drawings and experiment with colour and texture and decide then how I'm going to animate it. I plan on background colours being mainly blues and purples to convey nervousness and non translucent, the character be more translucent for the final scene (last minute escape). More pictures and experiments to come.
