After sorting out the SFX I'm going to experiment with lighting/shadows for all scenes and z depth pass on the last scene with all the cells.

Fantatsic Voyage Pre Viz Progress 5
I'm going to gather more SFX before putting it with the video. I've finally got the microtubules to grow, created better transitions, I've reverted back to the other music as it seemed to work best, any jazz music just didn't feel right so I'm sticking with this more friendly upbeat music. I have more creative transitions now.

Hey Paris,
ReplyDeleteOkay - so I think you need to make up your mind re. the transitions. You've got some when the images slide into place, and one that flips like a book, and one that is a clock face. Personally, I think the flipping of pages could be the answer to all the transitions, because it maintains an idea throughout - i.e. that this is a read-a-long story in the Dr Seuss-style. I like the question mark transition (though I think it could be smoother and a bit quicker), but I do think that decided on a single mode of transition would make logical sense after that - and the flipping pages idea seems very consistent with your world and your intentions - what do you think? Not sure if the current 'flipping' effect needs more work or can be improved upon - if so, do so.
Also - I like the in/out of the final scene - into the nucleus and back out again.
At the end, you've got a fade to black, but I wonder if a fade into white isn't preferable?
Oh yeah - forgot to add, that the various labels just blink out of existence when you're finished with them - I think a fade would be a more sophisticated and 'controlled' transition. It suggests a bit more polish and control.
ReplyDeleteI'll do that in post production it's just for pre viz they blink out of existence and for the book page transitions I found an effect called page turn in AE I'll post some tests of it.
