Dr Seuss Human Characters
Feedback appreciated. Drew a few thumbnails of human characters to use in my fantastic voyage to show it's a human cell, tried getting that pen effect in. I plan on going with thumbnail 3.
Okay - I just made some revisions to ensure each verse rhymes and scans - also, it just seems that the last verse feels like a good ending to me - but you might consider repeating the first verse again at the end, as that sort of works in a storybook way - bringing it full circle - also, in terms of the people in your world - really, they should just be as ordinary as possible (i.e. you or me or anyone) - you just want to keep the line-art simplicity of Seuss's world - they shouldn't feel fantastical or other-worldly - they're 'just us'...
There’s a whole world inside us – in you and in me In which our cells are dividing. It’s amazing, you’ll see.
It’s a strange word – Mitosis - it means 'to divide' And the what, when and how is what for you I’ll provide.
Mitosis begins as Prophase gets going, As inside the cell some new stuff starts showing.
It’s the nucleus – look! It contains DNA, Controlling cells’ functions, we don't have a say.
Our genes are inside it - chromosomes are the store; 23 from each parent and not a single gene more.
It’s pro-metaphase next – as microtubules grow, Then to the chromosomes fix and from them form a row.
With a ho and a heave, watch the strings do their bit; Anaphase is the name for when our chromosomes split.
Next up is telophase – watch its middle tuck in As the cell forms two daughters – identical twins!
Cytokinesis sounds scary and it’s a nightmare to spell But it’s amazing quite frankly – hey look! A new cell!
I like the idea of ending it the way it began, I was struggling with a good ending. I want to keep the line "To form two daughters - both one and the same." And I think I've made it work in this version. As for the humans would it be ok to do them the same way I did my characters in script to screen?

Now known as chromosomes, our genes have been stored, 23 from each parent and not a single gene more.

The cell gets pinched, telophase is to blame, To form two daughters, both one and the same.
