Fantastic Voyage Pre-Viz Progress 1 - Half Done

Left to do for pre-viz:
  1. Make microtubules grow.
  2. Fix transition timings.
  3. Make the first half.
  4. Work on SFX.
  5. Find Better Music.
  6. Work more on animation speed for telophase
  7. Extend ending scene and add flare deformers to the floating cells.

I've tried to make the microtubules grow for prometaphase using two different techniques and both have gone wrong each time I tried, if anyone has any ideas or methods to try please comment.

  1. Theres probably lots of solutions for that growing phase, personally I would just cheat it and do it in After effects. like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0svn-5rptYk&feature=youtu.be

Basically what I did was make a a curve, extruded a cylinder along the curve to give me the shape I wanted and then I created a sphere and attached it to the curve using a motion path (this is under the animation tab - constrain - motion paths - attach to motion path). Next you just animate the U Value on the motion path to make the sphere travel along the curve. Then you will need to render out a copy of the scene with the sphere and cylinder, you will also need an extra render of just the sphere. Lastly you just animate a mask in After effects to reveal the cylinder as the sphere moves, and then you're done!
